Initiatives

Recognition is the beginning. Support is the work.

Beyond the gala, DIMAS runs advocacy and support initiatives for women whose stories rarely reach the stage.

Initiative 01

Women Beyond Prison.

Active

A programme supporting women incarcerated for non-violent offences — and the women rebuilding their lives after release. We work alongside legal partners, counsellors and reintegration networks to reduce repeat incarceration and restore dignity.

Legal Support

Pro-bono representation and case review for non-violent offences.

Rehabilitation

Counselling and skills programmes during and after sentence.

Reintegration

Housing, employment and family reconnection support.

Advocacy

Policy work on sentencing reform and women in custody.

Initiative 02

Women & Safety Initiative.

Launching 2026

A dedicated programme addressing domestic violence and women's safety across Africa — combining awareness, advocacy and direct support.

Awareness

Editorial, broadcast and on-ground campaigns on domestic violence.

Advocacy

Policy engagement on protection orders and survivor rights.

Legal Support

Partnered legal pathways for survivors.

Counselling Referrals

Vetted networks of trauma-informed practitioners.
